Computer Science Boot Camps

Coding with Java

Based on the AP Computer Science curriculm, students will use Eclipse to code in Java. Beginners will learn strings, arrays, loops and more. Advanced coders will build Java projects, design games (connect four) and build critical thinking skills.

Online competitions designed by your instructor to test your knowledge and solve beginner, intermediate or advanced Java problems. Students compete for a variety of prizes.

Programming Basics

Course 1: June 1 – 5
This beginner course will teach programming logic. Learn to make games via Scratch, a drag-and-drop, block based visual programming language developed by MIT Media Lab. Develop computational thinking by creating animated stories and games.
Course 2: June 8 – 12
Keep building your programming skills using Scratch, a drag and drop block based visual programming language developed by MIT Media Lab.
Course 3: June 15 – 19
Build on skills from sessions 1 and 2. If you did not attend prior sessions you may still attend this class. Returners will continue to build proficiency and start Java if ready.
Course 4: June 22 – 26
Build on skills to begin learning Java or Python. If you did not attend prior sessions you may still attend this class. Returners will be grouped separately.
Course 5: June 29 – July 2
Build on skills to begin learning Java or Python. If you did not attend prior sessions you may still attend this class. Returners will be grouped separately.
